How do I share PlayStation Plus with another account on the same console?

A lot of people say that PlayStation Plus can be shared between accounts on the same console, but the actual steps always seem a bit unclear or outdated depending on where you look. Some guides mention “primary console,” others talk about “console sharing,” and it’s not always obvious what actually works right now.

So here’s where I’m stuck. I’ve got two accounts on the same PS5—one has an active PlayStation Plus subscription, and the other is just a secondary account I use sometimes. From what I understand, both accounts should be able to play online and access the benefits, but that’s not what I’m seeing.

On the second account, I can’t seem to access online multiplayer, and some of the PS Plus games are locked. I feel like I’m missing a setting somewhere, but I’ve already tried poking around in the users and accounts menu without much luck.

Is there a specific step-by-step that actually works right now? Do I need to enable something like console sharing or restore licenses or something?

Would really appreciate if someone could break it down simply or point out what I might be doing wrong.
