Thundr alternatives that don't suck for women?

Title basically. I'm so tired of Thundr. The paywall to unlock gender filtering is genuinely insane to me — like the ONE feature that makes these apps safe-ish for women costs money?? I don't understand the business logic there but ok.

I've been using Nightcap (nightcap.chat) for a few weeks as an alternative and it checks a lot of boxes:

• completely free, gender filter included
• no account needed at all
• auto-detects your country so matching feels local
• has both video and text-only mode (huge for those days when you don't want to be on camera)
• interest tags so you're not just matched with randos who have nothing in common with you

The text-only mode is honestly underrated. Sometimes I'm in bed and just want to chat with someone interesting without doing the whole "let me find a good angle" thing lol. It works really well.

Not saying it's perfect — it's still the internet — but compared to Thundr's "pay us or deal with it" energy, Nightcap feels way more user-first.
