Advice to get my towel pantry to stop smelling like weird wood?

I’ve done everything I can think of. I’ve steamed the entire closet, i’ve cleaned the walls with all types of solutions, but I still am getting that weird old wood smell. Does anyone have suggestions or advice to help remove it? It’s so embarrassing grabbing guests towels and realizing that freshly cleaned towels smell funky.
