Why do I keep making the same grammar mistakes even after practicing?

I’ve been studying English grammar for quite a while, and I understand most of the rules when I read them. But when I actually write or speak, I still repeat the same mistakes.

It feels like I’m learning, but not improving in real usage.

What I’ve started noticing is that general practice doesn’t always help fix specific mistakes. Focusing on one problem at a time, like tenses or articles, seems to work better than doing random exercises.

I’ve also found that using more targeted practice, like quizzes focused on specific grammar topics (for example, grammarerror .com), makes it easier to actually correct those patterns instead of repeating them.

Has anyone else faced this, and what helped you move past it?
