National Poetry Month, Day 1 - Missing You Metropolis

In the United States, it's National Poetry Month. I thought I would make a post a day showcasing a different book of speculative or nerdy-themed poetry throughout the month.

This first book, Missing You, Metropolis, by Gary Jackson, is the first book that truly convinced me that nerdy poetry could be a thing. a thing. And I don't just mean speculative poetry, because I'd been reading Tolkien's poetry along with the poetry of the Malazan series by Steven Erikson for years and years. However, this is the first time I experienced poetry specifically targeted at the nerd experience. If you've ever been into comic books or just grew up being a nerd in an unaccepting community, this is a book for you.

One of my favorite poems in this collection is about Mary Jane Watson and Betsy Ross comparing their love lives with their superhero boyfriends.
