Is reloading too often a bad habit?

I have a habit of reloading after every time I kill someone regardless of how much ammo I have left. I also reload every time im shooting at someone and they get out of my line of site or within feasible range even if I only used like 1 bullet. Should I stop doing this and just wait until I run out of ammo?
