Why did Bethesda include combat mechs in the first place if they wouldn’t be seen in action?
I remember reading that combat mechs were deemed illegal after the Colony War more for a development reason than an actual story reason, as Bethesda wanted to leave it open that maybe mechs would appear in a future DLC. Storywise, combat mechs aren’t a big jump from the robots we already see in-game. In terms of technology for Bethesda, they’ve already implemented ground vehicles into Starfield now, and in the past they’ve made big giant humanoid robots like Liberty Prime in Fallout 3 and 4.
Yet with this Terran Armada dlc we just see robots that are human-sized and shaped. Unless there is a big secret in the DLC where the TA unveils a combat mech we have to fight, then it seems like Starfield will never get official content of working mechs. Why couldn’t Bethesda manage to at least make enemy mechs? Those would be interesting to fight. I understand making a pilotable mech would be difficult.
So did Bethesda include mechs in the game with the implication they MIGHT make them work, and simply never did?
