Is it possible some of this will be okay?
I know for a lot of people it will be very bad. But I need a glimmer of hope that maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel and with all the panic and doom and gloom I guess I want to hear about some of the ways people are making it work and are going to make it out. I make 72k annually and have 133k in federal student loans. I regret taking out that many loans very very much but I was naive and honestly just dumb. I am with a qualifying PSLF employer now, plan to stay in PSLF jobs until I hit 120. I have 0 qualifying payments because I’ve been in forbearance and didn’t know what to do. I applied for PAYE last night and my estimated payment isn’t that bad…about 300 a month. It’s not going to kill me. Obviously I’m very lucky. After PAYE is gone I plan to get on RAP. It doesn’t seem like those payments will be horrible either, though I know it will be worse. Obviously this admin can kick rocks, what they are doing is nothing short of sociopathic. It sucks and I hope somehow the people who killed SAVE will know how badly they messed up people’s lives and I hope there is some justice in here for all of us some day. But I guess I need a little pat on the back like yeah that doesn’t sound too bad. You’ll make it to 120 and maybe you’ll still enjoy some of your life. I’ll be in my early 40s by then, maybe I will still have time to put some money towards things other than debt and food? Idk.
