Why do all the fun places about my special interests are more for kids?

Okay so like for context, one of my special interests is bugs. Like I collect taxidermy and have a whole shelf of specimen. There’s an insect museum somewhat close to us, but it seems very geared towards just children… and it makes me sad.

My BF is super into dinosaurs. But almost all of our local museums are for younger kids, and especially any local events are all for like 10 and under.

The only places we have been successful with are like Washington DC museums, the aquarium, and maybe the zoo if we’re lucky.

Idk if anyone else runs into this when trying to plan fun day trips, or just seeing what’s in the area and getting let down when a lot of stuff is more for children.

(And yes, I had tried going to this type of stuff anyways and it gets awkward af and sometimes people get rude)
