Mirena - Removal or Renewal?

Hi Lovelies,

A bit of background - approaching my mid 40’s, this is my first hormonal IUD and had on/off bleeding for the first 6 months of insertion. Fast forward and now about 6 years in but have noticed “mini periods” coming back nothing regular or heavy but feel like perhaps the efficacy is no longer good although my Dr had stated it’s okay to leave in for 8 years. I did experience a pretty significant weight gain after and am is probably a combination of lifestyle changes and the IUD. Dr noted plus side of hormonal IUDs help with perimenopause symptoms. Before I decide how to proceed am hoping for your experience with: 1.) symptoms after removal 2.) pros/cons on perimenopause without it.
