I think it’s starting to click some!

General

Hi all!

I’ve been using linux for about a year now and arch for a few months.

I like to play games and i use lutris for that with lots of gog games, steam games, and various other launchers.

Well, i had some trouble with lutris today and i spent about 6 hours fixing it all up (yes i am unemployed, no it is not a choice i am chronically ill lol).

I fixed certification chain issues, TLS problems, made cleaner wine prefixes for my launchers, learned a ton about file system pathing and how lutris works and even fixed CEF/UI problems! Ok, that last one kinda worked itself out, I don’t *totally know* how it works but it DID get fixed.

I say all that to say that while systems breaking can be unfun, hooooly cow do I understand things better now. I did a bunch of it through the konsole too!

Anyway. I wanted to share my learning win. I feel like there’s a misconception that everyone here knows everything about arch and linux and everyone is super level mega hacker man, and I wanted to share my little win to remind all the newbies that we all start somewhere and that slow, steady, positive change is how we grow and get better :)

I feel like a tech priest and the work i did today on my stuff made me feel like i actually can do this, especially because I really enjoyed it. I did curse a lot but truly it was cool and fun 😂

Anyway, wanted to share my progress. If I can do it, then i believe you can too :)

Thanks,

-Eliksni
