A strange situation with the seller

I bought a watch on eBay; it looked fine in the photos, and the seller had only one negative review. After the 3-day shipping window passed, I still hadn’t received a tracking number, so that afternoon I sent him a very polite message, to which he didn’t respond. I canceled the order after seeing a new negative review for a watch identical to the one I ordered—which never arrived. Did I do the right thing? What happens now?
