After years of battling stomach issues, I’m finally looking at PCOS and I need some advice!
Hi yall! I’ve been diagnosed with PCOS by two different doctors (my thyroid doc and an integrative med doc specializing in hormones) but honestly I had bigger fish to fry when I was diagnosed. I’ve been struggling with pretty severe stomach problems for years. my diet has gotten so restrictive to the point where I couldn't even eat fruit or rice without a problem. I was convinced I had a candida overgrowth and had that confirmed a few months ago. Since then I’ve seen some improvement and recently started implementing some foods back into my diet. However, since I have started adding some things like potatoes and grain and fruit back into my diet, my skin and hair is insanely oily. Like, within hours of a shower my scalp feels oily. I‘ve always had oily hair and skin, but it’s definitely more extreme. I’ve been getting acne on my scalp too which I’ve never really had before. My eyelashes are thinning out, I have acne all around and in my hairline and under my jaw. I feel like when I eat less grains it gets better but immediately comes back the same day if I eat a few organic potato chips. What really bothering me is losing my eyelashes. They used to be so long and thick and it’s sad to see them slowly fading. Im trying to determine if this is just more weird stomach issue symptoms or if it’s been PCOS all along and should start looking into that more seriously. I know I have it, it’s just been on the back burner but now I’m wondering if it’s only adding to my issues. Is this something anyone here has experience with? I know candida can be exasperated by hormone imbalance but it didn’t really occur to me that PCOS could be the outright cause. My doc recommended progesterone cream two weeks before my period every month as the only supplement/treatment. Is this effective? Sorry, I know this is a lot info, just kinds ranting and looking for answers.
