[HELP] LoL Client stuck on Black Screen / <unknown player> on MacBook M1 (Tried everything)
Hey everyone, I’m running into a wall here. My League of Legends client on MacBook Pro M1 is completely broken.
It loads the "frame" (social bar, settings icon), but the main content is just a black screen and my profile shows as <unknown player>.
Here is exactly what’s happening:
- I can open the Riot Client, but once League starts, it stays black.
- I can't click anything or start a game.
- It's happening across multiple accounts, so it's not account-specific.
What I’ve already tried (and didn't work):
- Full Reinstall: Deleted the app and re-downloaded.
- Folder Purge: Deleted
Riot Games,Riot Client, andriot-client-uxfrom~/Library/Application Support/. - Cache Clean: Cleared
~/Library/Caches/com.riotgames.*. - DNS Flush: Ran
sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponderin Terminal. - Network: Disabled Firewall, tried different DNS (Google 8.8.8.8), and verified I'm not using any VPN, Proxy, or AdGuard.
- IPv6: Switched to "Link-local only".
- Permissions: Full Disk Access is granted to both Riot Client and LoL.
I'm a Software Engineer, so I've checked for zombie processes and cleared the TCC database, but nothing seems to fix this "handshake" issue.
Has anyone with an M1/M2/M3 Mac faced this recently? Is there some hidden .plist or a specific Keychain entry that's bricking the session?
Appreciate any help!
