Surprising use of the term 'anorexia' in doctor's office visit notes?
I am reviewing the office visit notes from a former psychiatrist who managed medication for depression.
I was surprised to see 'anorexia' listed frequently as an explicit patient complaint. While I probably mentioned a reduced appetite due to depression, I've never had concerns about my weight or adjusted my diet to accommodate such concerns—and thus would not have expressed any such complaint.
Does the term 'anorexia' have a more specific meaning, in the context of office visit notes, than the dictionary definition? My concern is misinterpretation by a new provider when I forward the notes.
