He seems serious and intentional, not casual — so why go quiet right after suggesting we meet?

Advice

Need honest dating advice.

I’ve(28 F) been talking to a guy (31 M) on Bumble for a while (over a month), he asked to take it slow from the beginning. We’ve talked pretty much every day, had a lot of meaningful conversations, and he’s shared a lot of serious long term stuff with me. He’s told me he wants this to be his last time dating, wants marriage/family, and brought up that he may eventually move back to his family homestead. He also continuously mentioned being attracted to me and that our values aligned.

A few days ago, I told him that the kind of life he described actually aligns a lot with what I’d want too, and that I’d genuinely welcome continuing this in person. He responded with “Maybe this weekend, now that I’m back from traveling.” I replied that I was free this weekend.

Since then, it’s gone quiet for 2 days.

My confusion is this: he does not seem casual at all, and he has been very consistent overall. But he’s also very slow, very serious, and seems to overthink big steps. So I can’t tell whether this silence means:

  1. he got in his head after things became more real

  2. he wants to meet but is bad at follow through

  3. he changed his mind

  4. I came on too strong

Would you send one calm check in around Thursday, or just let it ride and see if he comes back on his own? And if you were in my shoes, at what point would you treat the silence as the answer? I've been out of dating for a minute, so I'm not sure how to read this situation.
