How to make menu navigation for ESP-32 project?

Hello, I'm doing a project which I want the user to select different modes from a menu (e.g: 1-RC car, 2- Temperature sensor, 3-...)
But I don't know how to implement the menu and controls. I think that I have two good options:
a) 4 arrow keys + OK: Seems good but use too many pins
b) rotatory knob + OK: Uses less pins and looks cool.

I don't know which one to implement, or how to do it. Does any one have tips or a guide where I can look this up?
