Insulation coming out of apartment air vent safe to breathe?

Back in December maintenance installed insulation in the apartments ceiling ever since then I've occasionally had a thick cotton coming out of my bedrooms ceiling vent.

I took my vacuum and suctioned what I could reach thru the slits out, but I woke up one day with a layer of insulation flakes over my bedroom bed and myself.

I've vacuumed what I could get out of there and closed the vent but even with the slats closed I can see pieces of insulation still trying to push through.

Currently I've vacuumed out what I could reach again, closed the slats, and covered the entire vent with cardboard and taped it off.

Waiting for maintenance to get around to fixing the issue, but it's getting hot even with the fans, doors, and windows open here. It's tempting to open the vent back up, but I don't want to risk the damage to my sinuses and lungs if it's hazardous to be around again.
