Just need some words of affirmation to get me through the summer
Almost every week I want to hand in my resignation. In the past 4 months I've had to deal with 3 re-orgs. I'm a PM and I inherited a product that was clearly mismanaged and doomed, PLUS I still have to maintain my previous role's workload.
I made it a goal to last until Aug when bonuses get paid out. Leaving now would mean that I miss out on over $50-60K, so not chump change, and that amount will cover living costs for many months so I can take a sabbatical for mental health.
I am trying to treat the doomed product as a test of my Product ability -- if I can turn it around then damn I'm good. ๐
But every week there's something that tests my limit. Recently it was a VP (a man) who was questioning why the doomed product hasn't launched yet. So he uses his Claude skill to generate a PowerPoint that summarizes user interviews and then shares it with my newest manager (woman) who forwards it along to me. As if to say, look how simple it is to PM!
Okay for one: THE DATA CAME FROM THE USER INTERVIEWS I CONDUCTED!! Before me, there was zero customer data. I was the one who did the work and was there so I understand the nuances in user responses. As if an AI summary can tell me something I didn't already know.
So please leave me some words of affirmation so I can refer to this thread when I want to scream. ๐
