Today I built a macOS menubar app that adds automated code review to Claude Code.
It installs a Stop hook that sends your git diff to an Ollama model for QA evaluation. If it finds critical bugs, Claude gets blocked with actionable feedback.
What it does:
→ One click hook install
→ Local & Ollama cloud models
→ Configurable review weights (correctness, completeness, etc.)
→ Per-project overrides
→ Spinning menubar icon while reviewing
Tested with several cloud models: deepseek-v3.2 catches the most issues (~60s), minimax-m2 is a good balance (~20s).
Built with Swift 6 / SwiftUI, hook script runs via Bun.
Beta DMG up for testing (not signed yet): github.com/darrylmorley/hook-qa/releases/tag/v1.0.0-beta1
Would love feedback.
Work continues tomorrow.
