Dear community I need advise on a cheap gap space laptop

lenovo dead after 3 months use (brand new) awaiting fix due to hardware fault .

I have to sit an international exam and register a machine to sit it with.

I have 48 hours to get and register a new machine since my beast is out of action.

I'm looking for a functional bare bones machine under £200 that I can later gift to my kid for her birthday - first school laptop for browsing researching and NOT gaming. Nothing fancy, pure function. If she wants to upgrade she has to work for it type of deal

I was thinking a chromebook but wanted the wise community who have perhaps been in a similar spot as I literally have 48 hours to decide, buy and register it for this exam.
