Face search exists now and it works differently than most people think

Most people assume you need a name or keyword to find someone online.

That’s not always true anymore.

Tools like PimEyes use face search, which means they scan the internet for images that match a face, not a name, username, or tag.

So a photo of you can show up even if:

  • your name isn’t attached
  • it’s on a site you’ve never used
  • someone else uploaded it

Because the system isn’t looking for text. It’s matching facial features.

That’s why this changes how “public” works online.

You don’t have to post something yourself for it to be searchable. And you don’t have to be tagged for it to be found.

If your image exists somewhere on the internet, there’s a chance it can be connected back to you through tools like this.

How do you feel about tools like this existing?
