Hysterectomy and Gyn visit
I (51) had a partial hysterectomy (only have ovaries) at 37 due to severe adhesions. After I healed from the surgery and did all the follow-ups, I never went back to a Gyn because I thought “there’s nothing to check anymore”. My primary does my mammogram every year. Anyway, thinking I was in peri, I asked to have hormones checked because of brain fog, weight gain, hair loss, etc. Dr. says I’m either in active meno or thru it. So I asked if I’m a candidate for HRT. She told me to see my Gyn. I haven’t had one in years. I didn’t think I needed one. Has anyone else experienced this? Am I stupid for thinking I didn’t have to have an annual gyn exam?
To add: The main reason I haven’t been to a Gyn is because the adhesions were caused by the Dr leaving me open for too long after a c-section because he was talking to his surgical nurse about holiday plans, so I’m definitely salty about that.
