Best way to pull Facebook Ads data into Sheets / external dashboards?

Hey,

Lately I’ve been trying to set up a simple way to pull data from Facebook Ads Manager into a Google Sheet, and then push that into a custom app I’m building (for dashboards, client breakdowns, etc.).

The goal is to have a clean and fast overview of performance across clients — without relying too much on Ads Manager itself.

Right now I’m using Make, and my scenario looks like this:

• Facebook Insights → Get Insights
• Google Sheets → Search for existing row
• Router
  • If exists → Update row
  • If not → Add row

It works fine structurally, but the data mapping part is pretty annoying — especially for leads.

Since Facebook returns leads inside the actions array (instead of a clean field), I have to use a formula like:

ifempty(first(map(Actions[]; value; action_type; lead)); 0)

Which feels kinda hacky and fragile — and also doesn’t cover all lead-related action types.

So my question is:

👉 How are you guys pulling data from Ads Manager into Sheets / Excel / your own systems?
👉 Are you using Make, Zapier, direct API, or something else?
👉 And is it just me, or is this part way more complicated than it should be?

Would love some inspiration or better approaches 🙌
