How to Stop Worrying/Comparing to Other Weddings

Everything Else

August 2026 bride here! We are in the throes of planning. Mostly all of the big stuff is done (although we still have to send out invites) and now I'm busying myself with little things.

But I've found myself really struggling with comparisons. For example, our friend's wedding invitations have a vellum sleeve. My fiance doesn't think we need a vellum sleeve & let's save some money just not using one. I'm down for that, but then I can't help getting in my head about being cheap? Like I can't spend $75 for vellum? But at the same time I understand vellum wraps are just thrown away when the invites are opened so who cares.

The same goes for favors. We had an idea to do personalized note cards for each person. I also love shells/fossils, so I was planning on finding and cleaning a bunch of fun little goodies for everybody. Plus we have bubbles. But we were just at a wedding that had coozies, snack bags, matchboxes, hats - and I'm struggling with wanting to buy more (I've been loading up my Etsy cart) but also thinking it isn't necessary.

End of the day I am ecstatic to marry my fiance, and the wedding will be a blast no matter what we do. But I guess I'm wondering - if you also kind of struggled with anxiety over the details or wanting to make sure all the guests have a good time, how did you handle that?
