Advice needed - my mom fell sick immediately after I came back from a temple

I have been doing basic upasana for past couple of months and got very into spirituality over past few years. I lived in US around that time and astrologer there told I have someone doing black magic on me and very bad things are about to happen to stop it from happening he recommended a pooja and asked for exorbitant amount. I refused but after I left life got very ugly, I lost people close to me, I lost money, and I quit my job and moved back to India. And finally I wanted to visit kanchi kamakshi temple and other Devi temples, as soon as I returned from a popular Devi temple my mom who came with me fell sick. I am worried, can someone advise me how to go about this.
