Claustrophobia / anxiety work arounds?

Hey guys slight back story, a couple of years ago I (18F) had a diving incident, long story short I was at 28 meters and not even 5 seconds later I was at like 8 meters. Got a bit of lung over expansion, didn’t get DCS or anything because I was only down for like 2 minutes. Tried a deep dive about 2 days later and had a panic attack nearly 30 meters down, because I have intense anxiety and I’m slightly claustrophobic, the claustrophobia has made me never actually enjoy deep dives because of the pressure.

I recently, during the summer season where I live, tried for the first time to dive without a wetsuit on, which helped me so much more, I felt incredible ( 100% recommend, even if it’s in a rashie and gym shorts). Before I did that I tried a deep dive again to see how I feel after going to counselling about it, when I got to about 23 meters I felt myself getting anxious so I did what anybody would do and ascended slightly to calm myself down, I then realised how uncomfortable my wetsuit was on my chest and neck, once I got more water into it and held the neck open I felt more okay but wasn’t comfortable continuing the dive, letting the necessary people know, my buddy and I assented to the surface and back onto the boat safely.

So my questions are:

  1. Do any of you know divers with the claustrophobia problem with their wet suits? If so how did they get over it or coming to terms with it and learning how to deal with it?

  2. Are there wetsuit company’s that make wetsuits for taller curvy woman that do front zippers and don’t restrict moment?

  3. I heard that it could do with the body’s lack of oxygen, the brain gets uncomfortable or something and thinks it’s dying??? (Don’t take my word on it, I had this conversation after just waking up so I may have heard wrong) Idk but I was thinking that getting nitrox could help with that probably?

  4. I have a women’s 5.5mm M/L aqualung wetsuit, 5.5 mm due to how bloody cold it is her in the winter season and in the summer the cold currents can be quite intense, my question is, should I try for a thinner wetsuit? And if so how do I keep warm in the winter, peeing barely helps because you do run out eventually.

  5. For my nerospicy people, could the claustrophobia be a part of the nerospicyness and if it is, what the f bro, why is it the one thing I enjoy, I have problems with 👎

Also thought I should mention I have had plenty incredible dives and have no problem whatsoever with shallow dives, also love love loveeee the amount of bottom time you get with shallow dives 🤭
