Shouldn't skin color adaptations be reversed?

If things that are lighter reflect more light and things that are darker absorb more light than shouldn't it be that people in hotter environments evolved to have lighter skin to reflect more dangerously intense light and people in colder environments would develop darker skin to absorb more light and stay warm
