07 ranger help!

Hey all!

Hoping someone more technically sound can give me a hand!

I own a 2007 ford ranger sport, 4x2 automatic with 3.0L V6. For the last little while I’ve been having an issue where my truck kind of feels like it’s “bouncing” around 2.5-3k RPM’s, usually I find this will happen when I accelerate a little too hard/fast, then my check engine light will pop on and the said “bouncing” continues around those RPM’s.

It’s also gotten to the point where I’ve been highway driving, and go completely into limp mode (I think that’s what it is😬) a couple of times, where the rpm’s will jump but I’ll lose all power to the wheels, have to pull over, and turn the truck off for a few mins. Hope my explanation makes sense!

Scanner has given me “P0320” code, truck runs fine for a bit after the code gets cleared but will come back eventually.

I like to think I somewhat know what I’m doing when it comes to cars, though I’m no professional, this is definitely above my knowledge😅! Online research has pointed to the trans, the Crankshaft position sensor & more, but I have no idea!

Any bits of advice & pointers in the right direction is greatly appreciated!
