I’m an IB French examiner — here’s why most students lose 2 points without realizing
After evaluating hundreds of IB responses, I’ve realized something:
👉 Students don’t lose marks because they don’t know French.
👉 They lose marks because they don’t understand what examiners actually want.
For example:
• A “good” answer can still get a 4
• A “structured” answer without depth won’t reach 7
In fact, I’ve seen students jump from a 4 to a 6 just by fixing 2 things.
I’m experimenting with a system that shows students:
• their real score
• where exactly marks are lost
• what a Band 7 answer looks like
If you’re preparing for IB French, drop a short response (100-150 words) below and I’ll evaluate it like a real examiner. I’ll review a few responses today.
