Is Gemini trolling me with generating images? How do I get it to finally generate one?

I have started using Gemini quite recently. Not very often but occasionally, mostly for coding but today I wanted to see how well Nano Banana works, just for curiosity.

I started it normally. I started to define my oc, we worked on the description for the image - setting, artstyle, clothes she'll wear. I even provided my own references.

I tapped on the Generate Image option and I asked Gemini to generate me an image. It thought for a good while before generating me a wall of text. A description of an image that wasn't there.

Then I tried again. The same thing happened. I kept directly saying I want an image, not text based on our description but it keeps looping back to rewriting the same thing over and over again

I've tried different settings, different chats, different prompts but it kept giving me text instead of an image
