15.12.2012 - Today: The 12th anniversary of the martyrdom of a heroirc leader of the Syrian Revolution of Dignity: **Abu Furat** (real name: Yusuf Al-Chader).

*Why are there still people today surprised that the revolutionaries are not sectarian?*

Abu Furat said: **“I lived in Latakia for 22 years.. I know that the Alawites are good-hearted and poor.. maybe only ten division leaders are the ones who are living, and these (Alawites) are being used as fuel for their benefit, and they are the sons of villages who have no food or bread, and if one of them gets sick, he dies because he cannot afford medicine.”**

Yusuf Ahmad Al-Chader was born in 1970 in the city of Jarablus in the Aleppo countryside on the Syrian-Turkish border. He defected from the regime's forces in July 2012 and was a commander of a tank brigade. At the beginning of his defection, he joined the opposition factions in the city of Al-Haffa in the Latakia countryside after refusing to bomb it, and then returned to his hometown in Aleppo to continue his legitimate struggle for freedom there until his death at the age of 42.

In the battle to liberate the Military Infantry School in Aleppo, during the mopping-up operation, the valiant commander was martyred. An hour or two before he was martyred, he appeared in a video and said an iconic phrase that reflects the patriotism and honest morals of this noble man:

“By God, I am so upset because these tanks are our tanks and these soldiers are our brothers.. I swear to God, every time I see a person killed from us or from them, I feel sad. I swear by God, if only you, bastard Bashar Al-Assad, had resigned, our country's future would be the best country in the world.. But you cling onto the chair.. why?! And you killed people in a peaceful uprising?!! Then we, the officers, sat there waiting and saying maybe it will get better today, maybe it will get better tomorrow, but we wake up to you saying we are terrorist gangs! We are not terrorists and we were never terrorists.”
