First time attending MUN
Hi guys, my first MUN is starting soon, and I need to submit my position papers in five days. I'm in the UNODC committee and a delegate for Indonesia. The topics are Comprehensive Response to Illicit Drug Trafficking + Demand Reduction and Strengthening International Measure to Combat Maritime Crime.
I've been doing my research for the first topic for the past 4 days and just started on my position paper. As soon as I started, I realised how many gaps there are in my research. And with my remaining time getting shorter and shorter, I need to start with researching the second topic as soon as possible.
Has this also happened to you? I expected myself to miss some parts, but what's worrying me is that I am genuinely not able to answer some of the questions given to us, such as *"*How can states more effectively target illicit financial flows and enhance mutual legal assistance and asset recovery processes linked to drug trafficking?"
I will have five days between the position paper submit date and the actual conference, so I'll definitely do more research there.
I'm just concerned whether this could be potentially a huge disadvantage during the conference. I'm not talking about a small misunderstanding, but a whole "What are they even talking about, I've never heard of this" situation.
Let me know your thoughts, thanks!!😸
