Best way to get 2 cats to be more comfortable with a big change?
Due to some problems with my bfs place, his cats cant stay there for a short period. This will be minimum 2 weeks. When I heard this I immediately suggested they stay with me as I do not want them staying in a kennel. I want them to have the best stay possible but my place is pretty small and we will be staying there with 2 humans and 2 cats. Its a studio appartment so I cant really give them a room to have a quiet hang out spot. One of the cats is very shy, another reason I dont want her with strangers.
Im a little afraid they will get nervous and pee on my furniture as my own childhood cat did that when she was somewhere unfamiliar. Of course, this is better then them having a horrible experience in a kennel, but something that did cross my mind. We wont be letting them outside since they dont know the neighborhood and im in a busier part of town so they arent used to the traffic here. This does mean they dont have a lot of space.
How do I make this more comforable for them? Is there anything I can prepare to help them adjust? My bf and his clothes will also be there too so at least some familiar smells.
