New Impressario and Trade Bars

I am a bit confused on the Impressario and the trade bars. TL:DR - do we still need the pet to "transform" into the other rewards?

I tried to include screenshots but it wouldn't let me, so I hope this is clear enough.

First there's the cost. It used to be cheaper to get the pet and now it is the same price for all fragments, regardless of whether or not it is the pet. Which prompted me to investigate the item descriptions.

It says that you only need the fragments, then "Use to combine into the recall." I'm fairly positive the old description used to say "Use to transform the pet into the recall."

So then I went to the ESO webpage news section about the event, and it isn't explained anywhere. I'm so stumped. Do you need the pet or not?

I wasn't really interested in the pet, its wings flap too fast and I believe it will get annoying, but the recall looks pretty cool. The event ends tomorrow, so I'd like to spend my trade bars wisely. Should I skip the pet and go straight for the recall? Or do I need the pet too?
