Wrong vacuum or wrong carpet?

I moved into a house with what I think is high pile carpet. I bought a shark navigator so I can vacuum regularly. The first time I used it was on the different carpeting in the basement and everything was fine. When I tried to use it upstairs on the high pile carpet it literally took all my strength in my whole body to move the vacuum across the floor. It seemed like it sucked ip the carpet so hard it was lifted off the floor and couldn’t roll forward. Did I buy the wrong vacuum or is this an issue with the carpet? I feel like vacuuming shouldn’t be this hard?
