How do you balance if a character has multiple wants?

In a story, your characters want something, but how do I show two competing wants? Especially when it's a want my FMC isn't quite aware of?

What Sai wants: to please her religious parents.

What Sai actually wants: to be with love interest/get his attention. (She doesnt internalize this for a while. She's got some stalker vibes going on.. it's a whole thing.)

A basic story structure shows the struggle to get what the character wants. And both of these wants will be the struggle of the story. I guess I'm just thinking outloud a bit and would like to hear your input.
