Relationship decay in demo

has anyone else been put off playing a bit because of the relationship decay once the demo is complete? I had two of my miis set up as crushes before their confinement and I was excited and ready for that to carry on in the full game but now I've noticed one is losing hope since they've not been able to speak to eachother. I was thinking of maybe restarting the day before the full game comes out to try and set it up again but it's really frustrating that it can even happen
