Quilt Design Resources

So I want to get into designing quilts. I tend to follow directions and then throw them out the window and start improving. I found two resources that I can't find any reviews on and wondered if you had tried these and what you thought of them.

The first is the QuiltGenius Design Tool Kit. It includes Stencils, Graph Paper & Booklet to Unleash Your Creativity; Easily Draft Quilts & Blocks.

The second is the Ultimate Quilt Block Design Kit that includes "180 mix-and-match corner, side, and center units that can be rearranged endlessly to create unique and creative quilt blocks." (The Amazon link shows more pictures of what this kit actually is while the CT Publishing website has only 1 picture.)

I'd love to know your thoughts on these and if you had used them. I got the quilt builder card deck for Christmas and I'm struggling to use it - geometry is not at all my in my strengths list (I have "math dyslexia" and the Quilt Block Design Kit has a bit more information to help with sizing and cutting.)

Thanks!
