Tension

I’m a mid-20s woman who presents relatively masculine; short hair, more androgynous style but I still wear makeup.

I’ve been noticing that a lot of middle-aged men seem to have some kind of issue with me.

It’s not always obvious or direct, but there’s often this passive-aggressive tone, or a kind of underlying tension. Even when they’re speaking “normally,” I can feel this weird hostility or discomfort coming from them.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? Or am I just overreading the situation? Maybe it's homophobia?
