Oh... Reed
Reed is a very complex character in the Cyberpunk world. I still didn’t fully understand his character.
There was a famous saying from RDR2 that says, “be loyal to what matters.” If there was one thing Reed should’ve known or stuck to, it’s that quote. Reed was betrayed, exploited by Myers, and stuck to too many foolish principles. Like Johnny said, he lost everything his friends, himself in the process and still stood up for a country whose president was a war criminal.
Reed could’ve just stuck with his friends against the NUSA.
I believe Reed didn’t really find his purpose, that’s why he chose to serve or felt obliged to serve the NUSA, because he thought that was a noble thing to do, and he was good at it. but he brought other people into this mess (Songbird, Alex…) called the NUSA.
Reed mirrors Johnny. Both of them were exploited, but Johnny saw the full picture that this thing was not a win, not for people, but for the corps, the rich, and that those principles are just manipulation under the name of the “spirit of patriotism.” And I think Johnny found his purpose in defending people and trying to take down the evil corps.
