How do babies respond to moving house?

Infant 2-12 Months

Hello all,

My husband and I are currently living with my parents until our new house is finished. We have been living with them since our daughter was two months old and we’ll be moving when she’s nine months old. She currently sleeps in the same room as we do and always has. I EBF and she comes for a feed 1-2 times per night.

So our struggle is this. She’ll have her own room in the new house. We’re not sure if we should let her sleep in her own room immediately after moving, or if she needs some acclimation time in our room. She does notice when we enter the bedroom late at night, sometimes she wakes, sometimes she doesn’t (also depends on potential hunger), so I feel like she might sleep longer/better if she doesn’t get interrupted with our presence. But it also feels a little drastic to not only transfer her to her own room, but to do it in an environment she doesn’t know yet.

Does anyone have any experience with this they can share?

Thanks in advance :-)

Ps. I’m also still considering rooming-in because of the night feedings, but I’d like her to sleep in her own room someday… at the end of the day we want to do what’s best for her.
