I built a tool to quickly check food ingredients for potential MCAS triggers, and I’d love your feedback

Hi everyone,

I’m building a small project called DietScanner: https://dietscanner.app

I made it to help with one specific pain point: checking ingredient lists faster when shopping, especially when trigger tolerance can change and labels are long or inconsistent.

What it currently does:

  • scan a product barcode (or enter it manually)
  • show ingredients and flag items from your personal “watch list”
  • includes a low-histamine/MCAS-style preset as a starting point
  • lets you customize your own ingredient profile

Important:

  • This is not medical advice and not a diagnostic tool
  • It’s just a practical helper to reduce decision fatigue
  • Everyone’s triggers are different, so customization is essential

I’d really appreciate feedback from this community on:

  • Which ingredients or categories are most important to include by default
  • What would make it actually useful in day-to-day life
  • What feels missing or potentially misleading

If this kind of post is not appropriate here, I understand and can remove it.
Thanks for reading.
