t all started long before I bought this car in 2023.

My first loan, moving alone from Ukraine to Canada, not knowing anything, but having a plan… a plan that, as it turned out, didn’t survive real life.

Let me explain.

At 23, I moved to Canada to explore a new continent, a new country. You know — chasing the “American dream.” Seeing yellow school buses, those square fire trucks, the whole vibe… it felt unreal.

Then came the time to buy a car.

I found a great option, made a plan to pay off the loan aggressively. No down payment, just went for it — got this beauty.

But I forgot one thing: life has its own plans.

Back home, a lot started happening. Suddenly, I had financial responsibility not only for myself, but also for my brothers and parents — on top of the loan.

I tried to keep up with everything. But I always had to keep money aside for my brother, who decided to become a “businessman.” I supported him, of course, but ended up covering his expenses, which hit my finances hard.

That’s how 3 years went by.

This winter, I finally stopped and asked myself:

Is it worth continuing to pay for this car? Is it really worth it?

So I listed it for sale at $20k.

But I’ll still need to borrow around $6k to close the loan.

Still… I’ll be free.

Anyway, I have to run — work doesn’t wait.

Just wanted to say: loans aren’t bad, but you really need to understand what you’re getting into.

If anyone wants to buy a well-maintained beauty — it’s in Ottawa. I took really good care of it.

Sometimes admitting a mistake is more important than continuing to do what’s considered “right” by society.

People think I’m crazy because I’ve already paid so much…

But I’d have to keep paying for years.

For better or worse.

Take care everyone. Stay strong 🫂
