Advice on undertaking full A test without school

Hi all,

Looking to do my full A upgrade (held A2 for 3+ years) and planning to use my own MT-07 rather than going through a school to save £500+.

The bike has a throttle restriction installed, but in reality it’s been unrestricted since I got it as I moved the plate.

Main question:

Has anyone here used their own bike for the full A test after derestricting it? Did you have any issues at the test centre, especially around insurance? Technically I’d be riding outside A2 limits, so not sure how that’s viewed.

Also:

•	Do examiners actually check your insurance in detail, or just that you have a valid certificate?

(My certificate doesn’t mention restriction or A2, just that I’m insured on the bike)

Bike setup questions:

•	I currently have an integrated tail light (indicators built in) — will I need to fully swap back to OEM, or is adding separate rear indicators enough?

•	Do I need a number plate light fitted for the test?

Just trying to avoid getting turned away on the day while keeping costs down.

Cheers
