I’m 23 & finally just accepted a job with my degree after months of unemployment!Looking to borrow $450 via PayPal, pls read below.
Hello all, I just found this subreddit out of desperation as many probably have before me. (Trying to sleep while stressed is the worst) I will try to explain my story without over explaining 😅..
As written in my header I finally got a job after graduating in May of 2025 which is very exciting, I start this upcoming Monday on the 6th! The problem is I’ve run out of money completely after paying my rent. My gas light light came on on my way back from the gym and my fridge will be empty by tomorrow night or Saturday.
This past summer I worked at a popular tourist restaurant and was able to save up $9,000, however, it was a seasonal position so I’ve been unemployed since mid September. And leading up to that throughout college I pretty much never saved any money because I was on YOLO mode, so that was a first for me and I was proud of myself. I somehow managed to stretch that $9,000 on rent, groceries, gas and the occasional outings with friends while making applying to positions and rounds of interviews my “job” over the past few months.. but I now sit here today with a whopping -$22 in my checking account, and it’s very depressing to say the least. I messed up and I own up to it, because I didn’t stick within my budget sometimes and it caught up to me.
A little background:
I come from a single parent - middle class background, and I’ve always been independent and working since HS to make my own money even throughout undergrad… because that’s how I was taught to be, work for your money.
My mom takes care of my phone bill, car insurance, and pays towards my student loan debt monthly so that’s why I find myself here seeking help from anyone who would be willing, because I’m blessed to an extent and I would feel very selfish asking for even more.
I never thought I would see the day I would even consider this but here I am. I’m willing to provide the job offer letter email along with the onboarding email, and any other information a lender might be seeking to validate my claims and willingness to pay back. Also, I’m willing to propose a repayment of $550 in full no installments with my first paycheck. I came up with $450 in consideration to filling my tank 2x, buying groceries + hygiene products, and paying my spectrum WiFi bill + utilities. I’m unsure how this company’s payroll works, so I don’t know if I will get my first check Friday the 10th of April or on the 17th. I’m assuming the 17th though to be honest, but I can confirm once I know for sure this upcoming Monday.
Regardless if I find a lender or not, if you took the time to read this, thank you! Life will be so much better soon, I can feel it! Stay blessed y’all 🙏
