Help me catch this pigeon!

I have someone’s fancy pigeon in my garden. He arrived yesterday and I thought he’d left but I got up this morning and he is back just clomping around my garden. He’s got muffs on his feet and is obviously someone’s escaped or abandoned pet.

I’ve called two rescues who’ve said that unless I catch him myself they won’t help as he isn’t sick or injured. I’ve also posted on Facebook to no avail.

I have tried to catch him in a towel but it just isn’t working. What can I do without really distressing it? I’ve left my shed door open with food and water in case he flies in there. I don’t want anything to happen to it but I’m not sure how long he will last outside on his own.
