Do you use DTS Virtual:X?

I'm trying out different audio options with my 3.1 setup, and I heard Virtual:X simulates surrounds. I notice a difference in the sound stage for sure but I feel like it also does weird things to music that plays during the movie? It's almost echoey or too high-pitched or something. Not sure if I have something set up incorrectly or if that's just how it's supposed to sound.
