General guidelines?

Im waiting on my background check, but i am reasonably confident it will go through. I got the equipment i will need. I'm wondering if there's a general ratio of miles to dollars that i should follow so i don't lose money time and energy. Also what are the rules about denying batches? Am i allowed to do that? Finally, if there is anything you think i should know, please leave a comment!
