Does grief make you numb? Or resilient?
I’ve had my fair share of deaths in my family and so far the most devastating was my Dad’s sudden death in December 2024. I remember how I felt and how awful everything was, how I didn’t know my own feelings and how everything felt when my life was upturned.
Now, when people complain about things or things go awry, for whatever reason, I shrug my shoulders. I don’t feel connected to smaller issues and drama. If people are late or plans get changed, I know that these things will pass, since nothing, to me at least, will ever be as bad as the death of my Dad.
I don’t know if this is the most healthy coping mechanism since I feel somewhat detached, but it has helped me realize that nothing is as big as death.
